DiagBimmer — BMW & MINI Diagnostic App

Professional OBD-II diagnostics for BMW and MINI vehicles. For independent technicians, workshops and enthusiasts.

DiagBimmer is available on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android). It reads fault codes (DTCs), shows real-time telemetry and offers BMW-specific diagnostic routines. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Wi-Fi ELM327 adapters are supported on both platforms; Bluetooth Classic and USB adapters on Android only. An ENET cable works directly on Android; on iOS it needs a Wi-Fi ENET adapter or a manually entered gateway address.

What DiagBimmer does

DiagBimmer turns an ordinary OBD-II adapter into a BMW-specific diagnostic tool. A universal scanner returns a handful of generic engine codes; DiagBimmer talks to the individual control modules in the car — engine, transmission, body and chassis — over the same UDS diagnostic protocol the manufacturer's own equipment uses.

Supported vehicles

BMW 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 Series — F-series from 2010 and G-series from 2018 — the X1 to X7 range, M Performance and M models, and the F-series MINI Cooper. E-series cars from 1999 to 2014 have limited support, because DiagBimmer needs the UDS diagnostic protocol.

Adapters

Any ELM327 v1.5 or newer OBD-II adapter works. On Android we recommend a plain ENET (Ethernet) cable with a USB-C Ethernet adapter in particular: it is the fastest and most stable connection, and it is the one the Hex Terminal needs. On iOS use a Wi-Fi ENET adapter (MHD / ModBMW type) for the same gateway access; a plain ENET cable works on iOS only by entering the gateway address manually. One caveat there: the Hex Terminal talks to gateways that answer HSFZ, which covers F-series and early G-series cars — on a newer car whose gateway answers DoIP the app connects and works normally, only the terminal stays unavailable. BLE, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi ENET adapters are supported on both iOS and Android; Bluetooth Classic and USB adapters are Android only, because iOS does not expose them to apps.

Try it without a car

Four demo vehicles are built into the app and run entirely on the device — no adapter and no car needed. While a demo vehicle is connected the paid features are unlocked, so you can see exactly what you would be buying; they lock again when you leave. PDF report sharing, CSV telemetry export and Hex Terminal sending always need the purchase.

Your data stays on your device

DiagBimmer sends no diagnostic data to any server. Your VIN, fault codes and telemetry never leave the phone. There is no analytics SDK and no crash reporting. The only network traffic is the app store's own purchase verification.

Safety

DiagBimmer is not operated while the vehicle is moving. Service actions run with the car stationary, the parking brake applied and the transmission in Park or Neutral. Parking brake service mode is the exception — it releases the parking brake so the pads can come out, so the vehicle must be chocked first, and the app warns continuously while the brake stays disabled. Every write asks for confirmation, except ones that restore a factory setting, stop a running routine, or repeat a step you already approved.

Frequently asked questions

Which BMW models does DiagBimmer support?

F-series cars from 2010 and G-series cars from 2018, the X1 to X7 range, M Performance and M models, and the F-series MINI Cooper. E-series cars from 1999 to 2014 are only partly supported, because DiagBimmer needs the UDS diagnostic protocol.

Do I need a special adapter?

No — any ELM327 v1.5 or newer OBD-II adapter works. On Android we recommend a plain ENET (Ethernet) cable in particular: it gives the fastest and most stable link, and it is the adapter the Hex Terminal needs. On iOS choose a Wi-Fi ENET adapter (MHD / ModBMW type); a plain ENET cable works there only with a manually entered gateway address. Note that the Hex Terminal also depends on the car: it speaks to gateways that answer HSFZ (F-series and early G-series). On a newer DoIP car everything else works, only the terminal does not. BLE, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi ENET adapters work on both iOS and Android; Bluetooth Classic and USB adapters are Android only.

Is DiagBimmer a subscription?

No. All the reading features are free — and so are the full-vehicle scan and clearing fault codes. The remaining action features unlock with a single lifetime purchase. There are no subscriptions, no ads and no trackers.

Does DiagBimmer send my vehicle data anywhere?

No. All diagnostic data stays on your device. There is no analytics or crash-reporting SDK.

Is DiagBimmer connected to BMW?

No. DiagBimmer is an independent application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by BMW AG, BMW dealerships or any authorised service centre. BMW and MINI are registered trademarks of BMW AG.

Can I install DiagBimmer today?

Yes. DiagBimmer is on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android); the download links are at the top of this page.
